What is a Professional Services Letter of Engagement?
This short-form engagement letter can be used when supplying professional services such as development, consultancy and project management, to a customer. As a short-form contract, it is only appropriate for low-value and/or low-risk professional services engagements.
The agreement sets out in clear and simple terms the process to be followed for the provision of services between two businesses. The contract is formed when the customer countersigns the letter, or, when the customer gives their written authorisation for the supplier to commence the project (e.g. an email that states: please proceed).
Tailor the contract to the specific services that you are supplying and the commercial terms of supply. The variables are described in the letter as “options”.
Why is a Letter of Engagement for professional services important?
This would typically be used when supplying services such as development, consultancy and project management, to a customer. It typically precedes a more detailed contract being signed for services and is used so that work can commence promptly.
